Construction News Awards 2023
On Friday, with partners GRAHAM Group and University of York, Equitix were delighted to win the award for Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) – Project of the Year, at the Construction News Awards 2023.

This accolade follows another TEN awards the project has received, including a commendation from Partnership Bulletin for Best constructed Project, RIBA Yorkshire Regional Design Award project, and York Design Awards in residential Project and Public Realm/Open Space categories.
The Student accommodation project at The University of York was completed in September 2022 under a £135 million investment to provide 1480 en-suite rooms in a live campus under guidelines to create an enhanced student experience within an environment centred around wellbeing using sustainable design solutions.
MMC solutions were delivered by embracing digital and off-site methods of construction in this live environment and assisted in achieving the highest possible standards of quality control through the extensive amount of building components fabricated in factory conditions. It also significantly reduced the number of site-based operatives, minimising overall impact on the University campus and local community through reduced vehicle movements of both deliveries and workers coming to site each day. Working on a lake edge in an area of high biodiversity was a key challenge. Our adoption of off-site manufacturing removed a large potential source of contamination to the surrounding lakes and water courses.
