Equitix acquires a portfolio of OFTO and PPP assets from Balfour Beatty

Equitix is delighted to announce the acquisition of Balfour Beatty’s stakes in a diversified portfolio of UK infrastructure and renewable assets, subject to regulatory approvals.

The portfolio comprises ten assets, including three Offshore Transmission Owners (OFTOs); five street lighting projects across England and one biomass plant and one PPP road concession.

Equitix has been active in these critical sectors for over a decade, with the long-term, inflation-linked, availability-based nature of cashflows forming a core part of its investment approach. Holding one of the largest portfolios in the UK OFTO and PPP markets, Equitix continually benefits from follow-on opportunities in relation to co-shareholder divestments.

Achal Bhuwania, Chief Investment Officer at Equitix, commented:

“This acquisition is a continuation of our strategy to consolidate our equity positions in existing assets in our portfolio and reinforces our position as a leading OFTO investor. This demonstrates the investment opportunities that can be generated from our existing portfolio to the mutual benefit of our investor base and partners.”

Equitix and Balfour Beatty have enjoyed a long-standing strategic partnership for over 15 years, co-investing in critical UK infrastructure assets. This long-standing relationship provided a strong foundation for the transaction, and supported an efficient, collaborative process for both parties.
