Equitix secures €500m UniCredit financing for Spanish hybridisation platform
Equitix has secured €500 million of project financing with UniCredit to support the next phase of development of its Spanish renewable energy hybridisation platform, reinforcing its commitment to scalable, integrated energy infrastructure and its continued growth in Europe.
The transaction marks a key milestone in the scaling of the platform, providing long-term financing to advance multiple projects. The financing will support the construction of a portfolio of onshore wind farms and co-located solar PV hybridisation projects across Spain, developed under a framework agreement with Capital Energy, and reflects Equitix’s conviction in solutions that improve the efficiency, flexibility and resilience of renewable generation systems.
The hybridisation platform currently comprises 200 MW of operational assets, with 220 MW under construction and a pipeline of circa 1 GW. By integrating wind, solar and batteries, the platform is designed to improve generation profiles, enhance grid efficiency and maximise asset performance, supporting the next phase of renewable deployment in Spain and across Europe’s increasingly integrated energy systems.
Achal Bhuwania, Chief Investment Officer at Equitix, said:
“This financing represents an important milestone for our Spanish hybridisation platform and a strong endorsement of both the quality of the assets and the long-term value of hybrid renewable infrastructure. Hybridisation is central to unlocking the next phase of renewable deployment in Europe, enabling more efficient use of grid infrastructure, improved flexibility and enhanced long-term resilience. This financing supports the efficient scaling of our platform in Spain and reflects Equitix’s continued commitment to growing its presence in integrated energy infrastructure across Europe.”
