Equitix welcomes Spain’s public asset manager into its European renewable energy hybridisation platform

Equitix announces that COFIDES, Spain’s state-backed manager of public investment funds, has joined its Spanish Hybridization Platform (the “Hybridisation Platform”) as a new strategic investment partner. The investment is made through FOCO, Spain’s €2 billion Co-investment fund managed by COFIDES.

COFIDES, Equitix and its existing Australian institutional partner are jointly building the Hybridisation Platform, reflecting a shared longterm investment philosophy focused on partnership, trust and value creation. Through FOCO, COFIDES is investing alongside Equitix in the Hybridisation Platform, which is designed to scale over time, supporting the development of a large and diversified renewable energy portfolio across Spain. With COFIDES joining Equitix and its Australian institutional partner, the Hybridisation Platform has strong financial capacity to accelerate its expansion across Spain.

Created and managed by Equitix, the Hybridization Platform integrates onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage technologies to deliver the next generation of lowcarbon energy infrastructure. The platform targets at least 1.4 gigawatts (GW) of capacity by 2030 and currently comprises 330 MW of operational and underconstruction assets, with an additional 200 MW in development across Castilla y León, CastillaLa Mancha, Aragón and Navarra. COFIDES’ participation reinforces the platform’s strategic importance for Spain’s energy transition, supporting innovative hybrid solutions while contributing to national energy security and decarbonisation objectives.

Equitix continues to lead the platform as originator, manager and investor, leveraging its track record as a local and Pan-European mid-market infrastructure asset manager of scale with deep experience in converting individual assets into institutionalgrade platforms. The firm has completed more than 300 infrastructure investments across 24 countries and has established a strong ontheground presence in Spain since 2018, delivering essential infrastructure across transport, digital connectivity, social infrastructure and renewable energy.

The partnership with COFIDES further strengthens Equitix’s position as a partner of trust, enhancing the platform’s ability to deliver reliable, scalable and futureproof energy systems aligned with Spain’s broader industrial and climate policy objectives.

Achal Bhuwania, CIO of Equitix, commented:

“We are pleased to welcome COFIDES to this strategic partnership, strengthening our shared commitment to Spain’s energy future. This platform represents essential national infrastructure—supporting growth, enhancing energy security and advancing Spain’s transition to renewable power.

Equitix remains committed to delivering the integrated energy systems of tomorrow. Beyond providing capital, we are focused on ensuring the platform is resilient, scalable and able to enable the next generation of low-carbon energy. We look forward to working with COFIDES and our local partners to unlock long-term value for communities and industry, and to accelerate progress toward a net-carbon future.”

Ángela Pérez, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of COFIDES, “This investment is significant not only because of its scale, technological innovation and climate relevance, but alsodue to its combination of hybridization solutions and positive environmental impact, as well as its contribution to increasing renewable-energy generation capacity in Spain.”
