Equitix acquires Barcelona based Hidrometering

Equitix are delighted to share news of our latest acquisition: a 100% stake in the water metering business, Hidrometering, which has operations across the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (having previously agreed operations in mid-2023).

Hidrometering provides water metering services directly to 450,000 residential customers of the BMA.

Water meters sit at the heart of Spain’s water security plans. Obtaining accurate data enables consumer awareness of water consumption, and allows the water concessionaire to develop the water supply network where required. Ensuring a third of Barcelona’s residents have the means to monitor their water usage leads to potential water savings, benefiting the community and targeting wider global sustainability goals.

Equitix has been active in continental Europe for over a decade, holding a presence in Spain since 2018; owning, building and managing key infrastructure projects including the Barcelona Metro Line 9 and LLobregat Courts of Justice.
