Grain Connect

Grain Connect (“Grain”) is a UK fibre to the premises “FTTP” business with its head office located in Carlisle that was established in 2016. Grain is in the early stages of building its own dedicated FTTP network across England. In addition to building the fibre network infrastructure, Grain is also an Internet Service Provider (“ISP”) for its residential customers in greenfield housing developments and brownfield urban communities.

Over the first phase of its business plan, that is expected to take the business up to 2026 Grain plans to pass up to 700,000 properties. Grain has an experienced management team who have previously held senior positions in leading communications businesses in the UK. Grain’s revenue is earned from its residential customers through the provision of superfast reliable broadband. Grain’s full fibre network can currently be found in 59 UK locations (plus over 150 new build housing developments). All of Grain’s fibre optic cables are installed underground, meaning there’s no need for telegraph poles. This not only improves connectivity but also respects the landscape and avoids any local concerns.

In August 2021 funds managed by Equitix acquired 40.7% of the equity with the remaining owned by Albion Capital, Solway and the management team.
