Paul IrelandHead of Environmental Services

Paul is a Director at Equitix where he manages a number of Renewables and Growth Funds, in the UK and Middle East. The Funds primarily comprise power generation and energy transition assets (such as waste-to-energy, OFTOs, offshore wind and hydro). In addition, he serves as Sector Head for Environmental Services, managing £2bn AUM, a capital base of approximately £5bn and a portfolio of around 30 assets across the UK and Europe. The sector comprises operating and construction assets in waste-to energy, mechanical sorting and recycling, waste wood biomass, district heating, anaerobic digestion, and wastewater treatment.

Under his dual role he sits on a number of strategic asset boards for Equitix, including a nationally significant UK aqueduct upgrade programme; a major container terminal in Oman, serving as a critical logistics hub; a leading waste infrastructure platform in Northern Ireland, driving a transition from disposal to reuse and recovery; and a geothermal developer with a global pipeline of projects focused on decentralised clean energy solutions.

Paul joined Equitix in 2017 prior to which he spent a decade at Mott MacDonald as a senior technical and commercial adviser, supporting over 40 project finance transactions across energy and multi-sector PPP schemes globally. His experience spans the full project lifecycle, from pre-financial close due diligence to construction monitoring, operational oversight, and post-close transaction advice. Paul holds a BA (Hons) degree from Durham University and is a full Member of the Institute of Directors (IoD).
