Ryoji SatoManaging Director, Capital Formation & Country Representative, Japan

Ryoji Sato is Managing Director, Capital Formation & Country Representative, Japan.

Ryoji believes that the Japanese government’s commitment to reforming the asset management industry is stimulating the investment appetite of institutional investors and pension funds in Japan. Initiatives such as the establishment of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JSA) and the Pension Funds Reform are notable examples. With the launch of Equitix Japan, the timing is ideal for further connecting the growing interest of Japanese investors with infrastructure opportunities overseas.

Ryoji has over 30 years of experience with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), including 28 years in various roles across New York (twice), Singapore, and Hong Kong. His expertise lies in the fixed income sector, particularly in rates and currency derivatives, where he has cultivated strong relationships with both corporate and institutional clients while working abroad. He is eager to engage potential investors in Japan, leveraging the extensive network he has built over his SMBC tenure.

Ryoji is a Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analyst Association of Japan and a Certified International Investment Analyst. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from the University of Tokyo.
