Equitix Partners with University of Barcelona for Greenfield Student Accommodation Project

Equitix is proud to be partnering with the Universitat de Barcelona, and CyO Group in a concession agreement to Design, Build, Finance and Operate a new greenfield student accommodation facility in Campus de Medicina i Ciències de la Salut de Bellvitge, Barcelona. Campus de Medicina i Ciències de la Salut de Bellvitge is expected to be the most innovative biomedical hub in Spain. This development partnership forms part of the University’s strategy to improve its infrastructure and support plans for growth.

The Universitat de Barcelona is already home to around 54,000 students and with this new accommodation project, the partnership will provide a further 206 student beds. Ensuring the provision of high-quality, sustainable accommodation is key to the University’s strategic growth plans and marks a step forward in Equitix’s growth in the Spanish student accommodation sector.

The new build will look to incorporate a comprehensive sustainability management plan with a complementary strategy to foster good standards of environmental and social performance. This aims to ensure that the project delivers in-line with long term objectives, offering an attractive student living experience and the delivery of positive outcomes for all stakeholders.

Equitix will own an 80% stake and @CyO Group owning 20%. We were supported in this transaction by; CBRE, a3i, Simmons & Simmons and EY. CyO Group was supported by Deloitte
