Equitix expands into Japan and makes two new appointments

We’re delighted to announce the opening of our new office in Tokyo, Japan with Ryoji Sato and Yoshi Idesako, appointed to lead business development in the region. With an established office in Seoul, Equitix continues to build out its capabilities across the Asia Pacific region and to act as a catalyst for encouraging foreign investment into UK infrastructure and contributing to the green transition.

With over 360 infrastructure assets under management internationally and AUM of $14bn, Equitix brings deep investment and operating expertise to create value for investors. Assets sit across a diverse range of sectors encompassing social infrastructure, transport, renewable power, environmental services, network utilities and data infrastructure.

Ryoji brings more than 30 years of experience working in financial services, and joins Equitix from Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC). He has expertise in the fixed income sector, particularly in rates and currency derivatives.

Yoshi brings over 18 years of experience in investment banking and has a strong track record of distributing Japanese financial products to institutional investors. He joins Equitix from SMBC Nikko. Yoshi previously had roles at Deutsche Bank and Citigroup Japan.

Hugh Crossley, Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are pleased to welcome Ryoji and Yoshi to the Equitix team. Establishing a presence in Japan will support our continued growth in the Asia Pacific region, where we are already well-established in South Korea. The addition of our Tokyo office will enable us to further enhance our relationships with our investors in the region.”

Ryoji Sato, Managing Director, Country Representative, Japan, said: “I’m delighted to be joining Equitix. The timing is ideal for further connecting the growing interest of Japanese investors with infrastructure opportunities overseas as the Government of Japan establishes its reform bill for promoting Japan as a leading asset management centre.”

Yoshi Idesako, Head of Business Development and Investor Relations, said: “I look forward to working closely with the Equitix team to build out our international growth and presence in the region.”
