Student Accomodation – University of Leicester
Equitix are delighted to share news of the delivery of our new, state of the art student accommodation and campus regeneration scheme for the University of Leicester.
In partnership for EQUANS CH, we have delivered 1,164 new student homes across 7 blocks: “Freemans Common” along with the refurbishment of a grade II listed building for revived study space, construction of a 500-space multistorey car park and the creation of a 9000 square meter teaching and learning centre which was all delivered in our promised time scale for the new university year.
We understand the importance of both sustainable construction and the creation of outstanding accommodation and amenity to enhance the overall student experience and quality of living. A key element in the design of the new facilities is energy efficiency. The overall scheme incorporates a number of renewable and energy-saving technologies including solar panels, highly efficient centralised gas fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP), solar power and LED lighting.
Ben Leech, Director for Equitix, said:
“Achieving practical completion at Freemen’s Common represents the culmination of several years of development, working in, partnership working with the University of Leicester, Equans, Leicester City Council and the wider local stakeholder group. We are delighted to have completed this market leading, outstanding project, which demonstrates our continued capability in the higher education market.”
