Firmus Energy

In 2019 funds managed by Equitix acquired 100% of Firmus, a gas distribution and gas supply business located in Antrim, Northern Ireland. Its gas distribution business is located in the Ten Towns area of Northern Ireland stretching east from Derry/Londonderry to Antrim and then south to Newry.

The gas distribution network is substantially complete with 2,400km of gas mains built. The Firmus distribution network is regulated by the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator. Given its relatively recent installation, the design, construction, and operation of the Firmus gas distribution network is extremely efficient, robust and high quality and renewable fuel ready for gasses such as Biomethane and Hydrogen.

Over the period 2019 to 2023 the gas supply business grew to be the largest supplier of gas by volumes in Northern Ireland. In 2024 the gas supply business was sold.

Firmus directly employs 90 staff across its distribution business maintaining the network, connecting new premises, and ensuring gas is distributed to its 68,000+ customers.

Firmus is 100% owned by funds managed by Equitix.
