Oman Tech Infrastructure SAOC

Oman Tech Infrastructure SAOC (OmanTech) is the leading independent telecom tower operator in Oman. OmanTech’s network is comprised of c.2,500 sites as of 2023. The sites are located in both low and high density rural areas.

Rakiza acquired a 30% equity ownership in the largest Omani portfolio of operational passive telecom infrastructure assets divested by Omantel, the biggest mobile network operator (“MNO”) in the country. A second closing will include the acquisition of c.200 In-Building Solutions (IBS) to provide indoor coverage.

The acquisition was conducted alongside Helios Towers (“HT”), an experienced owner/ operator of telecom infrastructure assets in emerging markets, which is acquiring the remainder 70% ownership.

The business has the potential to further monetize the assets by expanding the portfolio through organic growth (building new towers) as well as increase lease-up ratio, leveraging on macro trends such as increasing data consumption, 5G roll-out as well as new market entrants.

In 2023, Vodafone entered the Omani market and signed with OmanTech a long-term master service agreement for the provision of rental services in new and existing towers. Other customers include Omantel and Ooredoo, who are starting to upgrade their active equipment to 5G.
